The section of the book that will be used for this web-site deals with the case of Puerto Rican hip-hop artists and their struggle to find their way into a recording industry driven by colonizing market forces and a hip-hop community controlled mostly by blacks. This book is relevant to our web page because it explains the struggles Latinos currently have to find their way into the hip-hop scene. It will provide needed information about the roots and current struggles of the hip-hop community.

This book was used mainly to create the section "Justifying Latino History in Hip-Hop Culture." It presented information about how the stratification between Latinos and African-Americans first developed in the hip-hop community as well as giving important information about the role Latinos playing in the formation of hip-hop.

Although not quoted specifically anywhere in the site, this journal article was used to gather information about the effect hip-hop has had on the African-American and Latino communities. Mainly, the informatino gathered was for Latino youth.

This source provides biographies of many emerging latino hip-hop artists as well as their websites and e-mail. This source will allow us to potentially get in contact with various hip-hop artists and find information on the hip-hop movement from a direct source. The website also provides several music samples from each artist which will allow us to understand some of the themes that hip-hop artists consider when writing their music.
