Web BrowsersIBM Home Page Reader (HPR)HPR is an inexpensive and usable talking web browser. A 30-day demo can be downloaded (http://www-3.ibm.com/able/solution_offerings/hprtrial3.html). HPR does not have all the functionality of JAWS or Window-Eyes. For example, it does not recognize tabindexes or accesskeys. It also pronounces letters phonetically in parenthesis, hence the need to insert periods or spaces after each letter if they need to be pronounced individually. Also, remember to switch on "Read Column Headers" and "Read Row Headers" in Settings>Miscellaneous if you are checking table headings. To faciliate evaluation, review common HPR keyboard commands.
