Committee for Disability Concerns (C f D C)The Council acts in an advisory capacity regarding University programs and policies which affect people with disabilities. University of Michigan Initiative on Disability Studies (UMInDS)The University of Michigan Initiative on Disability Studies (UMInDs) is actively working toward the establishment of an Interdisciplinary Disability Studies Program at the University of Michigan. Adaptive Technology FacilitiesNote: Clicking on map links will take you out of this site. Adaptive Technology Computer Site (A T C S)The Adaptive Technology Computing Site (ATCS) at the University of Michigan is an ergo-assistive work-study computing environment open to students, faculty and staff. The site is designed to accommodate the information technology needs of physically, visually, learning, and ergonomically impaired individuals. Specialized hardware and software is provided at 9 workstations, some of which are equipped with adjustable height work surfaces and all of which are equipped with adjustable seating and 21 inch or larger high-resolution monitors. The I T C S is located in the basement of the Shapiro Undergraduate Library, as shown on this map of Central Campus. Media Union Adaptive Technology EquipmentA variety of adaptive technology equipment and software is available in the basement of the Media Union, including ergonomic chairs, headphones, special keyboards, Closed Caption Television (CCTV), alternative mice, Sit/Stand/Recline workstations, large (21") Monitors, Kurzweil 1000 and 3000, JAWS and Dragon Naturally Speaking. A Braille computer and Music Composition Station are located on the first floor in the Learning Technology Group. The location of the Media Union is shown on this map of North Campus. Taubman Medical Library (T M L)A variety of adaptive technology and software is available at the Taubman Medical Library, including Sit/Stand/Recline workstation, ergonomic chair, ergonomically-correct keyboard and mouse, joystick, trackball, Closed Caption Television (CCTV), large high-resolution monitor, screen magnification software, on-screen keyboard software.
