It is important to indicate when page content is a quotation. There are generally two types of tags: <blockquote> for large areas of quoted text, and &quot; for short strings of text. Text will be indented within the <blockquote> tags, and be announced by screen readers as "Blockquote start" and "Blockquote end." The &quote; designation is read as "quote."

The <q> tag is not recommended since it is 1) not recognized by Internet Explorer, and 2) not spoken by JAWS.
