MetaMeta tags help search engines properly index and reference your site, which facilitates accessibility for persons with disabilities. Using Meta Tags to Enhance AccessibilityInclude "keywords" and "description" meta tags, and "title" tags that include terms used by people to find content relevant to your site. Whenever possible (and logical), use those terms as well in your domain name (web address), headers, links, alt tags and body copy. Code Example: <meta name="keywords" content="Designing accessible websites creating usable software accessibility guidelines online ada regulations Americans with Disabilities Act compliance Section 508 requirements W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines html code tags evaluation tools resource links" /> <meta name="description" content="Websites and software compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ada), Section 508 and W3C guidelines improves accessibility and usability for persons with disabilities. Our tutorial, formats, html tags, evaluation tools, resources, and disability types improve handicapped access." /> Identify Search TermsYou can determine how frequently persons use search terms by going to Overture.com's Search Term Suggestion Tool (http://inventory.overture.come/d/searchinventory/suggestion/) and typing in a particular term or phrase. More about Site OptimizationFor more information on optimizing your site for search engines, see Chaptive 15 in Andy King's excellent book called "Speed Up Your Site: Website Optimization," New Riders, 2003 or his site on website optimization (www.WebSiteOptimization.com). |
