Caption

The caption tag appears within the Table element to describe a table. The align tag may also be used to indicate how the caption will appear relative to the table.

Additional information about the table can be provided with the Summary tag which is supported by JAWS 4.0 and above.

Browsers

Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer show the Caption tag and center it horizontally over the table by default.

Adaptive Technology

Home Page Reader and JAWS both speak the Caption tag prior to reading a table.
