Computer access for students with disabilities is available via the Adaptive Technology Computing Site (ATCS) as well as on various Ergopods located across U-M campus. An Ergopod is an ergo-assistive workstation that allows the user to stand, sit, or use a wheelchair while working. It is supplied with a Goldtouch keyboard, ergonomic pointing device (trackball), closed circuit TV (cctv) and headset, and includes standard software for disabilities, such as JAWS, Magic, Kurzweil 3000, and Dragon Naturally Speaking. At ATCS, there are nine workstations, and an array of specialized technology on hand such as digital scanners that output audio or text files, a Refreshable Brailler, and the Reading Edge reading machine for visually impaired users.
