Description
The students should go over the introduction and review sections of the module first before proceeding to the scenario section. The introduction will go into the basics of problem solving, and the review will cover the details of the evaluation checklist. Both of these are crucial to understand before proceeding the interactive part of the module, the scenario.

present state

In the scenario section of the module, the student will be given the chance to become an engineer at a company where he/she will qualitatively evaluate the company's proposal of a production expansion. He/she will collect information from carefully selected experts and then take notes that will correspond to the checklist questions they had just learned. At the end of the scenario, he/she will compare their notes to the best answers and see how well they have applied the evaluation technique.

critical thinking

The objectives are as follows:

  1. Choosing appropriate experts to assist them.
  2. Asking meaningful questions to the experts and taking notes with the checklist.
  3. Making their recommendation regarding the expansion proposal.
  4. Comparing their notes to the best answers to strengthen their checklist understanding.
Grade Base 75 points are needed to achieve mastery of the module.
Comments This module is a great tool for establishing a great understanding of how to efficiently and effectively solve problems whether it would be engineering related or not. It is recommended that students run the scenario several times, asking different experts different questions to gather the most useful information that would strengthen their end decision. If students have completed certain sections of the module, such as, the introduction or the review, they will have the opportunity to enter in their performance number to continue from where they left off and not lose their accumulated module points.
