Dolce and Gabbana’s ad in the October 2007 edition of Vogue Magazine depicts a disappointing scene in which men are being sexually objectified instead of women. While activists are working to eradicate the sexual objectification of women, they are not in any way welcoming or condoning the transfer of this demeaning treatment onto men. In the ad the two men are naked, facing away from the women who are grasping and controlling the men. It is evident that the women have complete power over the situation and are willing to use force to make the men comply. This portrayal of unequal power dynamics, which results in abuse, perpetuates a culture in which men and women are not treated equally and where sexual violence is acceptable.
