Get Involved! >MA >White Ribbon Campaign

The Men’s Activism Program is proud to work together with Men Against Violence Against Women (MAVAW) on the White Ribbon Campaign each year.  The annual event, which takes place over a week’s time at the end of November and beginning of December, commemorates the 1989 Montreal Massacre in which 25 year-old Marc Lépine claimed to "fight feminism", and staged a shooting spree targeting women at École Polytechnique. Fourteen women were murdered in the incident. At the White Ribbon Campaign, volunteers from the two separate groups unite to encourage men to make a pledge not to condone violence against women by wearing a white ribbon of antiviolence.
