The Communications Advisory Committee (CAC) advises and consults with the Vice President for Communications regarding public relations, internal and external communications,  and long-range planning.

Established by Senate Assembly according to Regent's Bylaw 4.06 :

...The assembly shall establish standing committees to advise and consult with the vice presidents of the University on matters within the areas of their respective responsibilities....

Purpose: To advise and consult with the Vice President of Communications on issues related to a broad range of activities including but not limited to:

• long range planning
• public relations issues facing the University on the local, state, regional and national levels
• internal and external communications including publications, admissions, materials, and others
• getting the University's multiple messages across to a wide range of constituencies (e.g., What messages do we want to send to prospective students and their families? How can we communicate to our state legislature that research is vital? How can we operate Michigan Radio most effectively? How can we produce the best publications possible?).

Composition: 8-12 faculty, and a SACUA liaison, representing a cross section of the Schools and Colleges and Regional Campuses, with attention to race, ethnicity, gender and rank. Members serve for three year terms.

Procedures: Committee meets monthly during the academic year. Agendas set by the Chair of the committee and the VP of Communications based upon input from members.
