Michigan Rowing: The Tampa Trips
Michigan Rowing (varsity and novice squads) trains in Tampa, Florida, two times each year: a week-long winter trip during the university's break between semesters (December - January), and a week-long spring trip during the university's spring break (February - March).

In the center of the top photograph on the left is one of the channels where the team frequently rows while training in Tampa. The channel is about 1.75 miles long, and crews lauch at the far end of the channel (at the center of this photo) and row into the bay, at the bottom of the photo. Crews frequently see dolphins, cruise ships, and an occasional manatee on their rows. There is a great 2K course marked within the channel that the University of Michigan Rowing Team uses for training and scrimmages against local universities.

There's practice . . .

. . . and eating and meeting poolside . . .

. . . and, of course, more practice!
