About Us

The Michigan Investment Group (MIG) is a student-managed organization at the University of Michigan focused on investments. MIG was founded with the purpose of helping students, and specifically engineers, who have an interest in markets and the world of finance.

Our group is divided into two main groups that work together: an Fundemental Investing Team and an Algorithmic Trading Team. The investment group group mainly discusses the markets and attempts to make sound investments based on stocks' fundamentals. This group is aimed at those with weaker or no programming skills. Our Algorithmic Trading Team is currently working on finding ways in which algorithms and programs can help make better investment decisions. Although this is a very competitive and difficult landscape, MIG's main goal is to help its members gain a better understanding of the field. Among the projects we have undertaken is a program that notifies an investor when certain metrics for a followed stock are met.
