Advanced Beginner Series: Argentine Tango Fundamentals
This class is now full. No more walk-ins are
The next series will start in May.
Instructors: Ramu Pyreddy & Yelena Sinelnikova
In this 6 week series, Ramu and Yelena will build on the vocabulary
taught in the beginner series with more complicated elements of tango
including the cross basic, progressive ochos, and the
mini-boleo. All the new pieces of tango vocabulary will be
taught with an emphasis on proper technique and how to reassemble them
into new combinations using vocabulary learned in the beginner
series; for example, cross basic into cruzada (cross), cross
basic into ochos, ocho cortado from cross
basic, mini-boleo into cruzada, and others. As
always, connection, rhythm, musicality, and
navigation will be emphasized.
March 5, 2003 - April 9, 2003
Room G115 Angell Hall (directions)
Students are encouraged to stay after the lesson and dance with the
intermediate and advanced dancers during the practica (typically from
9:30-11:30pm). Practica has a more informal and less intimidating
atmosphere than the milonga. This is a good opportunity to work on
your dance skills and get/give help from/to others. Dancing with more
people will help improve your dancing much faster than dancing with
the same person.
At the end of the series of 6 lessons there will be a field trip to
one of the local milongas (tango dance parties) - kind of a graduation
party! Details will be provided in the class.
