Please join us as we celebrate the 3rd anniversary of our club through a weekend and more of non-stop dancing! This annual celebration is becoming increasingly popular for social dancers across the states. Designed with dancers in mind, dancing and more dancing are the main themes of these friendly and affordable festivities.

About Alex Krebs

Alex Krebs, one of North America's most gifted teachers and tangueros, has been enchanting dancers throughout North America, Europe and Buenos Aires. He has received rave reviews for his teaching in Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Sweden and across the United States. He is a creative improviser and has performed internationally with some of tango's most talented tangueras, including Florencia Taccetti and Luciana Valle.

Alex teaches Argentine tango for the social dance floor, emphasizing the improvisatory side of the dance through a strong communication between the lead and follow and on musicality. Alex tries to give his students the vocabulary necessary so that each person can find their own unique way of dancing -- dancing the tango of their own body.

Please register online for the weekend workshops/milongas. We will not accept email reservations!

Due to the capacity of the rooms, enrollment in each workshop will be LIMITED to 50. As we process registrants on a first-come-first-serve basis, enrolling well in advance will assure you a spot in the workshops and save you money as well (see prices below). It will also give the organizers ample time to handle your requests (we appreciate your early enrollment greatly!).

Note that you do not have to register in advance for the Monday workshops/practicas--for these we welcome you to simply show up and pay at the door.

Please note that student rates are available only to FULL-TIME students with a valid student ID.

Private Lessons

We have slotted some time on Monday for our guest instructors to give private lessons to dancers seeking individuial attention. If you are interested, you must schedule these private lessons through the club by emailing your request to umtango@umich.edu. In your email, please let us know if you have any scheduling preferences. The slots will be filled on a first-come first serve basis.

Housing with local dancers may be available for those out-of-towners who register prior to September 17. If you are interested, please email tangohousing@yahoo.com. The sooner you register, the more likely it is that we will be able to find you housing.

Local dancers who house out-of-towners will receive a 25% discount on the workshop cost for each individual they host. If you are a local dancer interested in providing housing, please sign up here.

Questions? Concerns?

The most time consuming thing for us as organizers is when people ask us questions (email, personal, or telephone). We definitely do not mind answering your questions but many of the answers to your questions are available on this website.

If you still have questions, please do not hesitate to email us at
umtango@umich.edu. You may also call Ramu Pyreddy at 734-327-0642 or Avik Basu at 734-262-5800.
