About Me

I did most of my schooling in this fantastic place called Vana Vani located in the wilderness of the IIT campus in Madras. This was probably the place where I first developed a love for science. I then moved across the road to Anna University where I did my bachelors in biotechnology. I was introduced to research by Prof G. My initial work was on computational biology and bioinformatics. However, there was often that itching to actually get my hands wet and I was drawn towards biophysics, especially single molecule work. I then moved onto University of Michigan for graduate studies. For my thesis, I worked with Prof. Chris Meiners in Physics/Biophysics and working towards understanding the behavior of DNA using single molecule techniques. More about it in the research link. With that, I moved next door to Chemistry/Biophysics building for my post doctoral work with Dr. Sarah Veatch on how physical properties of plasma membrane influence various biological functions. I work in close collaboration with Dr. Mukesh Nyati and Dr. Dipankar Ray at the Med school in the University. A brief description of my current work is included the research section. I will put in more as time goes.
