Thanks for Participating in the Pie Slam!
On April 11, 2003 Tania and Nancy participated in a philanthropy event on the Diag to raise money for Diabetes Research. Thanks to all of the HSA memebers who came and helped support a great cause.

The Election Results Are In!
On April 3, 2004 HSA held a mass meeting and elected an Executive Board for the 2003-2004 Academic Year. Congratulations to the newly elected board members!

Happy Independence Day!

First of all, Happy Greek Independence Day!

The end of the semester is quickly approaching, but there are still several events for all HSA members! Things to look forward to include: the Marinella and George Dalaras Concert, the HSA Mass Meeting & Elections, a Rembetiko Concert at the Firefly Club, the Independence Parade in Greektown, and of course, our Tavli Tournament!

Our Mass meeting will be held on April 3rd at 8:30 in the Pond Room of the Michigan Union. You must be a current and paid member to vote in the elections! We hope to see everyone there! As always, dinner at Thanos Lamplighter will follow our Mass Meeting and Elections.

New Year's Update
Happy New Year! The HSA Board wishes all of its memebers a wonderful New Year!

We are getting off to a busy start so please make sure to check our calendar page for a complete list of all HSA activities.

Those who went on the Montreal Trip had a wonderful time! Thanks to all of the members who made the trip a memorable one! Pictures can be viewed here!

The Month of February is Byzantine Cultural Month. Talks will be given each Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in the Henderson Room of the Michigan League. Hope to see you there!

Too many topics
Hello HSA! Hope all of you enjoyed the HCM II events we put on this semester. Congratulations to the Cultural Committee for another fine series of events!

For those who missed the Mass Meeting on November 14th, We now have a new Social Chair: Congratulations to Niki Serras

Also, you can still get your membership cards by contacting our Treasurer Chris Apostoleris: capostol [at] umich [dot] edu. We have updated the Sponsor Page with all the info regarding discounts at the various establishments. Our thanks to all the sponsors.

Plans are moving ahead with regards to the Montreal Trip. Chris Soves has found rail transportation at a reasonable rate. Don't forget to have your $145 check payable to Del Sol in to Nancy (email: nchinoni [at] umich [dot] edu) by this Thursday, November 21st

This Friday is GreekStock, the annual dance at the Royalty House in Warren, I know a few people are going so if you need a ride send a note to hsa-board [at] umich [dot] edu and we will find you one!

Finally, allow me to reiterate what Konstantinos said at the Mass Meeting: The sky is the limit with HSA. If you have any ideas about events or gathering that you would like to see happen, let the board know and we will try to find a way to make it happen.

Mass Meeting

The second Mass Meeting for HSA will take place Thursday November 14th, 2002 in the Wolverine Room of the Michigan Union at 8:00 PM. Come ready to discuss your vision of HSA for this year.

If you haven't purchased your membership card, they will be on sale before and after the meeting. An HSA membership card entitles you to great discounts at several Ann Arbor restaurants and other establishments.

After the meeting we will go to Thanos' Lamplighter on East Liberty for dinner and parea. We hope to see you there!

Olympic Volunteers & SAE Youth Network

Would you rather see the 2004 Summer Olympic Games as an Official Volunteer instead of watching the them on television? Then come to the informational seminar on Saturday November 9, 2002 in Ann Arbor at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church from 2-5pm. There will be a repeat session: Saturday November 16, 2002 in St. Clair Shores at Assumption Cultural Center from 2-5pm.

Cultural Events

The Hellenic Cultural Month II is now underway as many of you know from attending the first event, screening of Ulysses Gaze, last night. Times and events are posted on the Official Hellenic Month II web page which can be accessed here.

On September 22-23, The Chair of Modern Greek Studies is sponsoring a symposium on War and Democracy. More information on this can be found here

Wheeler Park Picnic

Come join your fellow Hellenes for a picnic at Wheeler Park on Saturday, September 21st from 12:00-5:00PM. Please bring a dish to pass.

Directions: Take State St. to Fuller, turn west onto Fuller (left if coming from central campus), follow Fuller under the bridge where it turns into Depot, and you will see the park, across the street from Casey's pub.

Upcoming Events
Hi HSA, I hope you all had a chance to stop by our table during festifall and see our poster board as well try some of our baklava!. If you didn't get a chance, you can find a few pictures here.

Our first Mass meeting will take place this Thursday, Sept 12th, at 8:30 in the Wolverine Room of the Michigan Union (Map). After discussing some of our upcoming plans and other meeting business, we will head out to Thano's Lamplighter and commence with the usual Thursday tradition of good food and company not to mention discounted rates!

The next event to mark your calendar for is the Picnic at Wheeler park, details will be given at the meeting and will be posted online with a map to the park soon.
