The club planned eight dinner parties this past academic year with wide ranging themes, including Native American, French Bistro, Cuban, North African and a formal dinner based on the Danish film Babette's Feast. Participation ranges from 8 to 26 individuals, and although it may seem chaotic, the group really enjoys the social atmosphere of one couple hosting the dinner regardless of size. Typically members volunteer to either plan a menu or host a party. The planner surveys the entire membership to get a headcount of attendees, provides this information to the host, and distributes the menu and individual cooking assignments so that every one contributes to the success of the evening. Meal cost is shared by all who attend dividing the total cost by the number of people participating in the dinner party. Traditionally, the last gathering is outdoors at someone's home with the entire family included.
