In order to receive more national recognition and public favor, the U.S. Postal Service (U.S.P.S.) intoduced the first picture postcards which were meant to correspond with family from other destinations across the U.S. From its inception in the fair, the postcard took flight as a viable, and very fun means to communicate from the frotier back home.
