Women: Overlooked Abolitionists

 

So far in our discussion, we have seen arguments for and against slavery only from the perspective of white males. Yet, women played a significant role in the struggle for the freedom of slaves. Though women had almost no political rights, the 18th century saw the beginning of the rise of the female public voice. Thus, women not only fought for slaves, but for their own rights as well. In this room, we will gain a greater understanding of the identification of one subverted class with another.
