Employment Requirements
Applications are being accepted for the Winter 2010 for Tuesday opening shifts, Friday nights, and Saturday nights. Other shifts may become available over the next week or so. Please apply, but bear in mind that we will not be able to interview everyone who applies. We need to hire for very specific shifts, and if you are not available for at least one of those shifts, we cannot consider you for this job.
Please consider the following criteria before applying:
- You must be a University of Michigan student. In Spring/Summer, recent alumni are eligible to continue working.
- For Fall-winter consideration:
- You must have a work-study award. If you do not have a work-study award, you are not eligible to apply for the job.
- You must be available for training no later than January 6 for Winter consideration.
- Even if you do not specifically apply for a weekend shift, you must be available to be "on call" for an alternating Friday or Saturday night closing shift (8PM-2AM) about once every month. This schedule will be set by early January so you can plan around it.
- For Spring-Summer consideration:
- You must be able to commit to
the entire summer, starting late April (2 weeks training) through the first week of Fall classes in September.
- If you are planning to be in Ann Arbor for only the Spring semester, you are not eligible for an interview.
- If your lease is up in August and you plan to go home for a few weeks, you are not eligible for an interview.
- If you want some time to get away in June or July, it shouldn't be difficult to find another Billiards staff member to cover for you. But in August, it's not possible. You need to be here - and will probably be asked to pick up other people's shifts.
- Work study is not required for the Spring-Summer, but if you have it, be sure to mention it in your application. If you are awarded work-study in the Fall, you may be eligible to continue working.
- It is not necessary to be enrolled in Spring or Summer classes.
- You must be able to commit to
the entire summer, starting late April (2 weeks training) through the first week of Fall classes in September.
- This is a part-time position. You may work a minimum of 3-6 hours (one shift) a week, but not more than 12 hours (2 shifts) per week.
- The starting pay rate is $8.00 per hour.
