Bridge Cards Bridge Club

We are a club that meets in order to play bridge. We are open to all skill levels and teach anyone, even if they have no prior experience in any card game. We are trying to promote the game of bridge to the younger crowd, since it really is a great game and not just for people who are 70+, like most people think.

Events

Every year the Bridge Club participates in the National Collegiate Bridge Teams Championship, which is run by the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League). We field teams of 4 players and play in a qualifier online in February, from which teams advance and are given an all-expense paid trip to some city in the U.S. to compete against other colleges in bridge.

Past U of M teams have had the opportunity to go to Palm Beach, Atlanta, and Chicago. In 2006 in Chicago, the U of M team won! There were 8 teams at the finals. Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Univeristy of Chicago, MIT, Princeton, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Cal Tech. We beat UCLA in the semifinals by 1 point and Princeton in the finals by 2 points. So it was a great experience. There's a headline about all of this at http://www.acbl.org.
