Northern Arizona University seeks a scholar of Islamic Studies for a shared appointment as tenure-track assistant professor of religious studies and anthropology. Requirements of the appointment include ability to teach undergraduate courses for both the Religious Studies Program in the Department of Humanities, Arts & Religion, and the Anthropology Department. For Religious Studies, ability to teach an undergraduate survey of the religious tradition of Islam is a requirement. It is expected that the successful candidate will participate in the Anthropology M.A. program. Teaching responsibilities (5 courses per year) will be divided between Religious Studies and Anthropology. An active program of research and publication in relevant areas is expected. International applications are encouraged.
