Senior Staff Associate or
Associate Research Scholar – minimum requirements: advanced graduate studies or
equivalent in a field of Iranian studies (MA or equivalent required for Senior
Staff Associate; Ph.D. or equivalent for Associate Research Scholar). For
both positions: a proven and demonstrable fluency in written English. Published
translations from Persian to English. Editorial experience and utmost
accuracy in proofreading, samples in both respects will be needed. Also required
is a familiarity with at least one, preferably two research languages from
among Arabic, French, German, Italian, or Russian. Publications or other
evidence to support proficiency in the above requirements. Computer competency.
Web skills and familiarity with online editing and publishing projects a plus.
Salary is commensurate with title and experience.

Associate Research Scholar (Assistant Editor) — Ph. D. in a field
of ancient (pre-Islamic) Iranian Studies A solid background in Persian
history and culture and religion with a strong linguistic background in
pre-Islamic Iranian languages. A knowledge of at least one, preferably two
research languages from among German, French, Russian and Italian.
Publications to support proficiency of the above requirements and to
demonstrate scholarship at appropriate rank (assistant professorial rank).
Editorial skills (in English) as evidenced by sample editing. S/he would be
required to deal with all editorial aspects of the Encyclopaedia Iranica
(including ability to re-write & re-organize received entries and improve
them) and report to the Editor. Computer competency. Web skills and
familiarity with online editing and publishing projects a plus. Salary is
commensurate with experience.
