Most complete skeleton of 30 million-year-old dog
U-M paleontologist Anne Kort has confirmed that it’s one of the most complete fossils of a pre-Ice Age dog found in North America, a canid called Mesocyon coryphaeus. In fact, the species, first named in 1879, had only been previously identified by single skulls.

Cover crop project bridges farming and research
What began as a doctoral project at the University of Michigan is now spreading like red clover across the Great Lakes region to help farmers improve their soil and prevent fertilizer from washing into waterways.

Solar-powered pumps
Researchers from the University of Michigan and the nonprofit ELICO Foundation built a solar-powered pumping system to supply water to about 3,000 pastoralist families in rural Tanzania, following two years of collaboration. The project expanded the local distribution network by about 10 miles.
