• Michigan Arts Festival

    With over 300 student organizations, more than a dozen galleries and exhibition spaces, a packed performance schedule from the School of Music, Theatre & Dance and beyond, new exhibits at the U-M Museum of Art and other campus museums, there is no shortage of inspiration to be found. The month-long festival is a small snapshot of the endless arts opportunities open to the U-M community.

  • Papyrus conservation

    An international cohort of conservation students recently attended the University of Michigan’s 2026 Papyrus Conservation Summer Seminar. Working alongside U-M conservators and papyrologists, participants preserved more than 150 papyrus fragments, including manuscripts that had not been opened, flattened or read in nearly 2,000 years.

    U-M artist and architecture professor Catie Newell designed glass “Depth objects” for a short tour through the Faculty Arts Ambassador Program, offering participants a chance to explore grief, care and life transitions through touch, conversation and art—transforming grief into something tangible.
